For those of us who grunted when Atlanta traded Javier Vasquez to New York, a little crow must be eaten. In that trade, Arodys Vizcaino was the prize. Vizcaino blew through the minors this season, beginning the year in High A Lynchburg before moving to Mississippi. The stats were so good that a promotion to AAA Gwinnett brought a transition to reliever with the intentions of a big league call up to aid in the playoff run. That call came Tuesday. From High A ball to the big show in one season, not too shabby. To make room, the Braves released Scott Proctor and his 6.44 era.
Congratulations to James Darnell on recording his first big league hit today in New York!
